Stranglecord Teeth for spears: look for the hanging-vine drop
Look for the stationary hanging vines, not the small roaming uproots. In an October 13 demo analysis, somewhat silly says the hanging vines drop the stranglecord teeth needed for spears. They also say spears require a crafting table and more materials than shivs.
Defeat the matched plant only when you have a workable approach, inspect its actual loot and take the named material to a workbench. Use the recipe displayed in your build for the remaining ingredients and quantities.
Your next check
Hanging vine → named drop → workbench
- 01Match the stationary hanging-vine account
- 02Keep a working weapon and a route away
- 03Inspect the actual tooth drop before leaving
- 04Compare the current spear recipe at a workbench

Match the material to the reported enemy
The reply distinguishes hanging vines that stay in place from the small uproot enemies used for common plant materials. The author reports that the vines supply the teeth. It gives no universal room, map coordinate or guaranteed drop rate.
This is a dated player account, including the author's own game-data analysis; it is not our playtest or an official current damage table. A room cleared earlier is not a promise that another run contains the same target.
Collect and verify the drop
- Bring a functioning weapon and keep a retraceable route away from the plant. If you need replacements first, use the shiv material checks.
- Get a clear view of the hanging target and the floor around it. The player describes attacking in brief approaches with a spear; that does not guarantee another weapon can safely use the same reach.
- After defeating it, inspect the dropped items and confirm the tooth item's name rather than assuming every plant resource is interchangeable.
- If the nearby-container list hides the floor entry, use the limited visible-object pickup method.
- Check the item reached your inventory before leaving. If the expected material is absent, do not assume an unseen drop or a fixed respawn timer.
The next step is the displayed workbench recipe
At a workbench or crafting table, inspect the spear recipe and compare every requirement with your carried materials. The cited reply identifies the tooth source and table requirement but does not provide a complete verified ingredient-count card for every build.
Craft only when the current recipe is satisfied, then check that a usable spear appears and can be equipped. A cooker is a separate food interface; do not treat it as a substitute for the table.
Why keep shivs as well?
Raphael recommends making spears, while somewhat silly describes their reach and knockback as useful against a single enemy. The same discussion calls shivs sustainable and spears more material-intensive. Keep a weapon supply you can actually replace while gathering the rarer component.
These are run decisions, not a universal best-weapon ranking. If an enemy vanishes while you approach, distinguish the v49 visibility issue from a defeated target before crossing its last position.
