Dirt infection: the extra need is separate from hunger
A current demo player reports a third hunger-like need after exposure to green goo from a hanging plant. They managed it by periodically eating dirt; allowing that need to run out caused damage in their run. Keep ordinary hunger and thirst separate from this added demand.
No cure is verified here. Another player reports vomiting while eating dirt with Prone to Cramps, so the earlier account is not a guarantee that managing the need will be straightforward for every character.
Your next check
An added demand, with limits
- 01Extra dirt bar after reported green-goo exposure
- 02Dirt supplies → check whether need refills
- 03Ordinary hunger and thirst remain separate
- 04Vomiting or cure questions → unresolved

Match the reported symptoms
ook's October 10 reply describes contact with green goo in some hanging plants followed by a dirt craving that acts like an additional hunger or thirst bar. The publisher-partnership announcement independently mentions a brain parasite that makes the character eat dirt; it does not establish a treatment.
Use the extra demand as the symptom check. This is not a claim that every green plant is infectious or that every later health drop has the same cause.
What the successful account supports
- If you have the added dirt need, monitor it alongside ordinary hunger and thirst.
- Keep suitable dirt supplies available if your current item interaction permits eating them.
- Check whether the demand is actually replenished after use and whether damage stops. That is the result reported in ook's run.
- Continue ordinary food and water management. The extra demand does not replace those two needs.
- If supplies do not stay down or health continues to fall, stop assuming the earlier successful account fits your character and compare the limits below.
Vomiting is an unresolved additional problem
In the DIRT DIRT DIRT DIRT discussion, milktoast says they chose Prone to Cramps and vomit almost every time they eat dirt. Their reply asks how to cure the infection; it supplies no successful cure or method for preventing that vomiting.
Record whether the dirt need rises after using the item and which other statuses are present. The source does not confirm that a different portion size, cooking recipe, medication or character trait will fix it. We do not turn the unresolved question into a treatment recommendation.
Can you cure it or avoid transformation?
No verified cure was present in the checked threads. ook had not found one and was unsure how the infection relates to the plants. They had not seen their character become a plant during the period they played.
Not observing transformation in one run does not prove transformation is impossible. Likewise, the official parasite reference confirms a premise rather than a complete infection system. This guide offers a limited management account, not a cure or ending.
Still dying after eating dirt?
Check for separate Bleeding, low food or low water. Maintaining the added dirt bar did not establish protection from those other causes of damage.
If the current demo no longer matches the third-bar behavior, rely on your installed UI and released notes. No precise infection timer, required quantity or fixed dirt-pickup location is confirmed by these replies.
